RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace University baseball team hits the road this weekend with a three-day series against Methodist University. The first game is set for Friday, February 23, at 6:00 p.m.
The Monarchs (7-1) enter Friday's game off a six game winning-streak having recently defeated Washington and Lee going 2-0 in the series against the Generals. The Pacers (5-3) head to Fayetteville having recently defeated Guilford College in their series (2-1), playing the first of three games with home field advantage and finishing the latter of the series in Greensboro. The Monarchs rank second in the conference based on their non-conference play while the Pacers are tied for third with Huntingdon for their non-conference record.
In their last meeting during the 2017 season, the Monarchs won the series 2-1 (5-4, 2-9, 2-5). The Pacer offense is being lead by Alec Allred (.500 avg., 4 2b, 5 rbi, .654 slg.%, .552 ob%), while five other baseball players are all hitting .300 or higher.
The Pacer pitching staff is lead by junior Derek Jackson who posts a 3-0 record this season with 14 strikeouts and 19 innings on the mound.
The series schedule begins with a single game on Friday, February 23 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a single on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and a final game on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
