Box Score CARY, N.C. -- The William Peace University (17-19, 8-10) used a combination of the long ball, and great defense to push past the Pride of Greensboro College 6-3 on Sunday. The Pacer win was enough to clinch the first ever USA South Tournament appearance in the four-year history of the program.

Nathan Holt launched an 0-1 fastball over the left field wall for his first career homerun, giving the Pacers a 5-0 lead. The Pacers pushed the lead to 6-0 after
Alex Scott advanced on a passed ball in the 5 th .
Luke Westmoreland was able to feed off of the offensive output, holding the Pride scoreless through 8 full innings. Westmoreland gave way to
Ben Brann after getting two outs in the 9 th , but not before Greensboro cut the lead to 6-2. Brann was able to record the final out by way of a fly out to senior shortstop
Trevor Nanney, initiating the celebration of clinching a tournament berth.
Westmoreland picked up his second win in as many starts, finishing with 8.2 innings pitched, four strikeouts, and three runs against.
Nick Cole was 3-4 with a double a run scored, while Scott, Tilson, and Holt added a hit a piece. Holt was responsible for two runs batted in, while Tilson added another.
Trevor Nanney was 1-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
In honor of the Vs. Cancer Foundation, the WPU Baseball team raised $4,000 dollars leading up to this game and continued to raise awareness after the game as the entire team shaved their heads in honor of the charity. Their freshly shaved heads will be on display in Georgia as the team hits the road for the tournament!
The Pacers earned the seventh seed in the USA South Conference Tournament, and will face Ferrum College at 4:30pm Wednesday at LaGrange College. The Pacers will enter the tournament as the hottest team in the league, as they are the only team on a current winning streak.
