Box Score Junior right-hander
Luke Westmoreland was able to stifle the offense of Averett University in game three on Sunday in Danville. Westmoreland went the distance, striking out eight, and only allowing one run which was unearned. All four of Averett's hits were singles, and only one base runner was able to get into scoring position.
The Pacers got on the board first, scoring two runs in the top of the 6th. With
Alex Scott on third,
Alec Allred pushed a bunt down the first base line and reached base when the Cougar first basemen mishandled the ball giving the Pacers a 1-0 lead.
Mikey Anerton drove in
Will Cunningham with a single into right center to push the lead to two.
Averett answered in the bottom of the inning after a Cougar hitter reached base on an error. A single pushed the runner to third base, and a sacrifice bunt brought in the lone run of the day for the Cougars.
Nick Cole was able to extend the lead for the Pacers after an RBI single in the 8th, and an Allred double knocked in two runs in the 9th.

William Peace is currently sitting in 7th place in the USA South with a conference record of 6-9. The Pacers will host Greensboro College in a three-game set beginning Friday. There will be special events during the series, as the Pacers will honor their seniors on Saturday, and will recognize the fight against cancer on Sunday sponsored by V.S. Cancer.
