Pacers Eliminated from USA South Tournament by Greensboro College

Box Score LaGrange, GA -- The William Peace baseball team was able to jump out to a 2-1 lead, but would fall to Greensboro College in an elimination game in the USA South Tournament by the score of 7-2.

The Pacers got off to a quick start when Alec Allred singled to lead off the game. Sean Finneran would lay down a sacrifice bunt, and Allred advanced to third after the Pride left the base uncovered. Alex Scott sent a deep fly ball to left-center, and Allred walked in to score the first run of the ball game. The Pride answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to knot up the score at 1. The Pacers were able to respond after a back to back singles from Kyle Cranmer and Trevor Nanney, a walk to Nathan Holt, and a bases loaded hit by pitch to Allred for their second run.

Greensboro took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning on a 2 RBI single, and an unearned run.

Senior Chase Roupp took the ball for the start in game two, tallying an inning and two-thirds before giving way to the bullpen. Braxton Lamm, Jayce Stephenson, and Ben Brann combined to finish out the game allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out seven.

Kyle Cranmer led the Pacer offense with two hits and a run scored. Alec Allred was 1-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Trevor Nanney, John Ramirez, Will Cunningham, Hunter Allen, and Nathan Holt each added a hit apiece, and Alex Scott tacked on an RBI.

The Pacers are scheduled for one last home series against Huntingdon College on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 with a single game Friday at 6:00 p.m. and doubleheader Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
