HOLLY SPRINGS, NC -- The Pacers (8-10, 2-1) headed into the rubber match on Sunday against the Battling Bishops (10-3, 4-2), after splitting the Saturday double-header. The bats were hot early for the Pacers, as they jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Alex Scott drove in the first run by way of a sacrifice fly, followed by back-to- back RBI singles from
Mikey Anerton and
Tyler Tilson. Wesleyan answered in the second with a 2 RBI double to cut the lead to 1, but the Pacers tacked on 5 runs to push the lead to 8-2.
The combination of
Ben Brann,
Braxton Lamm, and
Alex Scott kept the Bishops in check, but not before they responded with 4 runs on 2 homeruns and an RBI groundout. With the score 8-6 in the top of the 9 th ,
Alex Scott struck out the first 2 batters he faced before getting a groundout to
Aaron George at 2 nd base to end the game.
This is the first series win for the Pacers in its young history. The Pacers were led offensively by
Sean Finneran (2-4, 2 R),
Alec Allred (1-4, 2 R),
Trevor Nanney (1-4, RBI),
Nathan Holt (3-4, 1 R, 2 SB), Anerton (4-5, 3 RBI), and
Alex Scott added an RBI.
Ben Brann picked up his second win, striking out 2 while not allowing a walk.
Braxton Lamm and
Alex Scott combined to throw the last 3 1/3 innings, striking out 4, allowing 2 hits, no runs, and walking none.
