Pacers Fall in Final Game of Ferrum Series

Box Score

FERRUM, V.A. -- The William Peace University baseball team was upended, 6-5, by Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers drop to 11-13 on the season.

The Pacers came out swinging early as Easton Payton knocked in a triple in the first inning and later scored from a sacrifice fly hit by Sean Finneran. Ferrum quickly responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 2-2.

Pitching would be the name of the rest of the game until Alex Scott's eighth inning home run. At a score of 4-2 in the ninth inning, the Pacers looked to close the game out but failed to deter Ferrums offense. Ferrum brought in one run in the bottom of the eighth  and two runs in the bottom of the ninth to close the game.

The Pacers face Methodist University on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at home in the first game of a 3-game series.
