Box Score 2 FERRUM, V.A.. -- The William Peace University baseball team was tripped up, 3-10, by Ferrum College Wednesday afternoon in the first game of their double header. The Pacers followed up batting strong in game two but fell 6-7. The losses put the Pacers at 11-12 on the season.
The Pacers gave up three runs in the first two innings of game one. A third inning surge sparked by Alex Scott's single up the middle brought in Easton Payton to put the Pacers on the board.
The Pacers let up one run in the fifth inning to go down by three, but the answered the run with two of their own. Alec Allred cracked a hard double to center field followed by another double by Alex Scott. A ground out by Tyler Tilson would bring home Scott and put the Pacers within two runs. Later in the inning the Pacers had the tying run at the plate but the Panthers closed with a strikeout.
In the second game of their visit to Virginia, the Pacers came out swinging. Leading into a tied one to one fifth inning. Easton Payton scored in Nathan Holt on a single to left center putting the Pacers up by two. Up by one after a single earned run by Ferrum in the fifth, the Pacers brought home another two runs when Easton Payton tripled and later crossed home, setting the Pacers up by three. The Pacers pitching and fielding held strong until the eighth inning when Ferrum began to bring in a string of four consecutive runs. The Pacers could not keep up with Ferrum's offensive run in the 8th inning and the final score of game two was 6-7.
The Pacers face Ferrum College in game three of their series on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. In Ferrum, Va.
