RALEIGH -- The William Peace baseball team will open up a three-game set with its second consecutive Division II opponent in Brevard College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Pacers (3-4) will send senior right-hander Trevor Pence to the mound for the fourth time this year. In three appearances, Pence has 22 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA.

Pitching Coach Dylan Pfingst has been pleased with Pence, who has been able to tame his opponents' bats, posting a .180 opponent batting average.'

"Trevor has been a huge asset for us so far this season," said Pfignst. "His starts have given us a chance to win, and we all believe we will win as soon as he hits the mound."

The Pacers' bats have more than come alive in the last few games as well. The team has driven in 28 runs on 38 hits in the last three games. The combination of Mikey Anerton, Tyler Tilson, Alex Scott and Sean Finneran have given the offense a spark.

"It has been great to see the offense click like this," said head coach Chris Duty. "It really shows this team is capable of putting runs on the board, and putting us in a good place to win ball games."

The Tornadoes enter the weekend with a record of 3-6, tallying wins against King, Toccoa Falls, and Young Harris. Brevard competes in the Southern Atlantic Conferece but will be entering the USA South next year.

The Pacers and the Tornadoes will wrap up the three game series on Sunday with a double header beginning at noon.
