RALEIGH -- The William Peace University women's basketball team will host Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon in the Hermann Athletic Center. The Pacers lost the first matchup between these two teams earlier this year, 85-47.
William Peace is riding a six-game win streak into Saturday afternoon's game. The Panthers are the Pacers' only conference loss this year and a William Peace win would tie Ferrum for first place in the East.
Ferrum is undefeated in USA South play, but the Panthers did lose to Piedmont College this year in a game that was scheduled out of conference. The Panthers are on a six-game win streak of their own before Saturday's contest.
The Panthers have a dominant player in Zarkia Mattox. Mattox leads the conference in scoring at 22.1 points per game and also averages 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting at a 51.2% clip. Ferrum has excelled at getting good shots, but has shown weakness in their rebounding. The Pacers average seven more rebounds per game than the Panthers.
The game is scheduled to tip at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
