FERRUM, Va. -- The William Peace University women's basketball squad will look for its eighth straight win of the season in a conference game against Ferrum College Saturday afternoon. Both William Peace and Ferrum are 1-0 to start conference play.

The Pacers are in the midst of a seven-game win streak and off to one of the best starts in program history. Freshman Tyler Mercer is leading the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game while sophomore Nadine Ealey is averaging 13.2. Freshman Makayla Ray is almost averaging a double-double with 10 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest. Ray's performance over the last few games earned her USA South Rookie of the Week honors.

The Panthers (6-6) are being led by Zarkia Mattox who is leading the USA South in scoring at 24.4 points a game. The standout forward is having a tremendous season averaging 10.4 rebounds a game and shooting at a 55% clip. Mattox is also the reigning USA South Player of the Week.
