RALEIGH -- The William Peace University women's basketball team will play host to Greensboro College on Wednesday night in the Pacers first home game of 2017. William Peace is looking to earn its seventh consecutive win and start the conference schedule 1-0 against the Pride.
William Peace's 7-2 record on the year has been one of the program's best starts in history. The Pacers are being led by freshman
Tyler Mercer and sophomore
Nadine Ealey who are averaging 14.7 and 14.3 points per game, respectively.
Makayla Ray, a freshman from Asheville, N.C., is averaging 10 points and nine rebounds per game. Ray is also coming off a USA South Rookie of the Week honor last week.
William Peace is averaging 74 points a contest and limiting opponents to 63 points per game. But it's been the Pacers defense creating offense. William Peace is forcing teams to turn the ball over 20 times a game with half coming from steals. William Peace is averaging 3 blocks a game as well.
Greensboro College (4-7) is being led by Rasheika Gregory who averages 10.5 points per game. The Pride distributes their offense pretty evenly with Katie Lewis and Kylee Barry averaging 9.6 and 9.0 points per game, respectively. Greensboro is 0-1 in the conference after falling to Averett 66-64 last week.
The Pacers game against the Pride will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hermann Athletic Center.
