Women's Basketball Falls To Lynchburg 82-62 In Season Opener

Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The William Peace University women's basketball team (0-1) fell to Lynchburg (1-0) on Tuesday night, 82-62. Nadine Ealey led the way for the Pacers with 20 points in only 22 minutes.

It was a tale of dominant quarters. Lynchburg jumped out to a fast start outscoring William Peace 24-8 in the first quarter. WPU managed to cut Lynchburg's lead to 11 at halftime, but another run for the Hornets brought the score to 66-38 at the end of the third. The Pacers didn't give up and showed a lot of grit outscoring the Hornets 24-16 in the final frame.

Ealey led the team with 20 points coming off the bench. The bench scored 40 points with help from Tyler Mercer who had 12. The team played hustle defense netting 16 steals over the course of the game with Ealy and Mercer grabbing four apiece.

The Pacers will host Berry College on Friday night at 8 p.m. in the Hermann Athletic Center. Fans are encouraged to attend the women's basketball team's home opener.
