Softball Splits with Roanoke on the Road

SALEM, Va. - William Peace softball split a non conference doubleheader at Roanoke on Wednesday, falling in the opener before bouncing back in game two to move to 15-15 on the season.

In the first game, the Pacers dropped a close 4-3 game despite a late rally in the sixth. Roanoke took an early lead with two runs in the first inning and added two more in the fifth to go in front 4-0.

Peace responded with three runs to generate a come back. Alli Bordwine drew a bases loaded walk to bring in the first run before Allison Burlew followed with an RBI single. Sabrina Cox added a sacrifice fly to score another run and make it a one run game.

Cierra Lear led the offense with two hits, while Burlew and Cox each drove in a run. Reagan Stewart went the distance in the circle, allowing four runs, two earned, while striking out four in the loss.

In the second game, the Pacers found themselves a 5-2 victory.

After falling behind 2-0, Peace tied the game in the fifth inning when Isabelle Olson delivered a two RBI double to bring home Cierra Lear and Gracee Greer.

The Pacers took control in the sixth inning, scoring three runs. Marissa Fuller drove in a run with a single before two more runs scored on a Roanoke error to give Peace a 5-2 advantage.

Olson led the offense with two hits and two RBI, while Reagan Stewart and Alli Bordwine each added two hits. The Pacers finished with 10 hits in the win.

Savannah Paul earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs, one earned, across five innings while striking out two. Kimberly Bordeaux closed out the final two innings to secure the victory.
