Softball Sweeps Salem on the Road

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - William Peace softball earned a conference road sweep over Salem on Saturday, taking both games to improve to 17-15 overall and 5-7 in conference play.

The Pacers opened the day with an 8-4 victory behind a strong offensive performance and a complete game in the circle from Reagan Stewart.

Peace jumped out to an early lead in the first inning on a two RBI double from Isabelle Olson. After Salem answered to tie the game, the Pacers broke things open in the fourth inning with five runs. Kinley Jordan highlighted the inning with a three run home run before Cierra Lear added a two run homer to extend the lead.

Jordan finished with two home runs and four RBI, while Olson added two hits and two RBI. Stewart also contributed at the plate with two hits while earning the win in the circle, going the distance and striking out seven.

In the second game, the Pacers used a late offensive comeback to secure a 7-3 victory and complete the sweep.

Peace took the lead early before Salem battled back to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth. The Pacers responded in the seventh inning with four runs to regain control. Reagan Stewart delivered an RBI single before Isabelle Olson came through with a two RBI double. Alli Bordwine added an RBI double later in the inning to cap the scoring.

Olson led the offense with three hits and five RBI, while Stewart added two hits and an RBI. Gracee Greer recorded two hits and scored twice as the Pacers totaled 10 hits in the game.

Kimberly Bordeaux earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five across a complete game effort.

William Peace returns to action on Wednesday, April 15 with a road doubleheader at Pfeiffer.
