CARY, NC – William Peace University women's lacrosse concluded its regular season on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-4 home loss to Randolph College. Despite the setback, the Pacers (2-8, 2-7 USA South) have clinched a spot in the USA South Tournament and will now shift their focus to postseason play.
Senior Mary Langer led the offense in the regular season finale, scoring twice and adding an assist while controlling a game-high six draws. Sophomore Elise Langer contributed a goal and assist of her own, helping the Pacers stay within reach in a back-and-forth first half.
The WildCats used a 3-1 second-quarter run to take control and never looked back.
Sam Huff found the back of the net for WPU in the fourth quarter, converting on a free-position opportunity, but Randolph's defensive effort limited the Pacers to just seven shots on goal. Goalkeeper Aryal Brandon registered eight saves to keep Peace in the game.
With the regular season now complete, William Peace turns its attention to the USA South Tournament, where they will take on #1 seed Meredith College for an 11 AM match up on Saturday, April 26.
