CARY, N.C. — William Peace dropped a high-scoring contest to Brevard on Friday afternoon, falling 13-7 at the USA Baseball Training Complex.
The Pacers briefly held a 2-1 lead in the second after a two-run single from Jacob Cace. Brevard responded with three runs over the next two innings to go up 4-2.
WPU had its biggest inning in the fifth, scoring five runs to take a 7-4 lead. Gavin Turner delivered a two-run single, and a pair of errors helped keep the inning alive.
Brevard tied the game in the sixth and went ahead on a wild pitch in the seventh. The Tornados then pulled away in the ninth with five runs, taking advantage of four Pacer errors on the day.
G. Turner and Ian Turner each had two hits, while Adam Joseph reached base three times. Starter Maxwell Kasprowicz went five innings, allowing just two earned runs.
