Softball Sweeps Salem on Senior Day

RALEIGH, N.C - Game 1: The Pacers opened the day with a 6-3 win over Salem behind a balanced offensive attack and a strong outing from Reagan Stewart in the circle. Stewart went 6.2 innings, striking out four while allowing three earned runs on eight hits to earn her eighth win of the season.

Peace broke through in the second inning on a two-run homer from Isabelle Olson, and extended the lead to 5-0 in the third behind a two-run blast from Adanya Day and an RBI single by Taylor Byrd. The Spirits responded with a three-run fifth inning, but the Pacers tacked on an insurance run in the bottom half on a Marissa Fuller RBI single.

Byrd finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and a double, while Olson and Day each drove in two. Fuller added two hits and an RBI, helping Peace out-hit Salem 10-8.

Game 2: The Pacers completed the sweep in dominant fashion, cruising to an 8-0 run-rule win in five innings. Kimberly Bordeaux was lights out in the circle, tossing a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Peace wasted no time jumping on the board, plating three runs in the first and four more in the second. Day stayed hot at the plate with a two-run homer and an RBI single, finishing 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Megan McAnany added a two-run double, and Byrd chipped in a two-RBI single.

The Pacers recorded 11 hits in the win, including multi-hit efforts from Day, McAnany, Cierra Lear, and Taryn Shelton.

With the doubleheader sweep, William Peace improves to 16-13 overall and continues their momentum in USA South play.
