RALEIGH, N.C. - Game One: William Peace softball walked it off against Southern Virginia with a 5-3 victory on Saturday afternoon, improving to 13-6 on the season.
The Pacers got on the board early thanks to a first-inning RBI single from Reagan Stewart, who finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate. Southern Virginia responded with a three-run fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead, but the Pacers didn't stay down for long.
WPU tied things up in the bottom of the fourth when Taryn Shelton delivered a clutch two-out, two-RBI single to right field, scoring Reagan Stewart and Kiersten Cox.
After a single from Cox and a double by pinch hitter Caroline Burdsal in the bottom of the seventh, Lacy Smothers came up big with a pinch-hit, two-RBI double to right center to seal the walk-off win in style.
Game Two:Â The Pacers capped off its Saturday doubleheader with a dominant 11-1 run-rule victory over Southern Virginia, completing the sweep and improving to 14-6 on the season.
The Pacers wasted no time striking early, as Reagan Stewart drove in the first run in the opening inning.
A five-run third and five more in the fourth blew the game wide open. Stewart and Isabelle Olson each homered in the offensive explosion—Olson going deep twice, including a three-run shot in the third and another two-run home run in the fourth.
On the mound, Kimberly Bordeaux was lights out, going the full five innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out three to pick up her fifth win of the season (5-3).
