Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Game One: The Pacers fell short in game one of the last day of the Myrtle Beach Fastpitch Classic. Penn State-Altoona got on the board first, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Lions added another run in the second off an RBI single,
extending their lead to 3-0.
William Peace responded in the third with a three-run inning, tying the game at 3-3. Adanya Day delivered a two-RBI single, plating Taryn Shelton and Kiersten Cox, followed by an RBI double from Reagan Stewart to score Caroline Burdsal.
However, Penn State-Altoona regained the lead, extending their lead to 6-3 in the sixth.
William Peace attempted a seventh-inning rally, with Stewart driving in Day on a single, but the Pacers were unable to complete the comeback.
Game Two:
Behind a dominant performance from pitcher Reagan Stewart, William Peace University secured a 4-0 shutout victory over Penn College on Thursday afternoon.
The Pacers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Kinley Jordan and Megan McAnany got things started with back-to-back hits before Stewart helped her own cause with a two-RBI single up the middle. Adanya Day later came around to score on a defensive miscue, giving William Peace an early 3-0 advantage.
Both offenses went quiet for the middle innings as Stewart (6-1) took control on the mound. The right-hander tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out two and walking one.
The Pacers added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Day doubled to left field, bringing home Martha Parlier, who had reached on an error earlier in the inning.
William Peace finished with seven hits, led by Day (1-for-3, RBI, run, double) and Stewart (1-for-4, 2 RBIs). Taylor Byrd also chipped in a double in the win.
The Pacers will look to build on their momentum as they head into conference play on Saturday March 22nd for a double header match up starting at 1 PM.
