Stewart Strikes Out 13 as Softball Splits with Brevard

RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace softball split a home doubleheader with Brevard on Saturday, moving to 18-18 overall and 6-10 in conference play.

The Pacers opened the day with an 8-0 victory in six innings behind a dominant performance from Reagan Stewart in the circle. Stewart struck out a career high 13 batters while allowing just one hit in the complete game shutout.

Peace gave Stewart early support with three runs in the first inning and added two more in the second. Cierra Lear delivered a two RBI double, while Megan Hobbs added a two run home run in the third inning. Alli Bordwine finished with two hits, while Kinley Jordan added an RBI.

In game two, the Pacers fell 7-3 after Brevard used a three run seventh inning to break open a close game.

Peace cut into the deficit late when Cierra Lear tripled and later scored on an RBI single from Reagan Stewart in the sixth. Marissa Fuller and Megan Hobbs added hits in the seventh inning, while Gracee Greer drove in a run.

Lear finished with a hit, walk, run scored, and triple, while Stewart added an RBI hit and also tossed four innings of relief with four strikeouts.

William Peace returns home for its final regular season home game on Saturday, April 25 against Greensboro.
