LYNCHBURG, V.A. -
Game One:
The William Peace Pacers struggled to find their rhythm at the plate in a tough 8-0 loss to Lynchburg on Sunday afternoon. With the defeat, William Peace falls to 1-1 on the season.
Despite a strong start from pitcher Reagan Stewart, who allowed three runs over five innings while striking out one, the Pacers couldn't overcome Lynchburg's late offensive rally. Stewart took the loss, dropping to 0-1 on the season. Haley Joyce entered in relief but was unable to contain the Hornets, allowing five runs without recording an out.
Offensively, the Pacers managed just two hits, with Adanya Day and Megan McAnany each recorded a single.
Game Two:
The Pacers struggled offensively in the second game, falling 4-0.
They were held to just three hits with Adanya Day leading the way by going 2-for-3, including a double in the seventh inning. Her extra-base hit provided a late scoring opportunity, but the Pacers were unable to capitalize.
Reagan Stewart recorded the team's only other hit, a single in the final frame that advanced a runner to third, but a well-timed defensive play by Lynchburg resulted in a double play that ended the scoring threat.
Despite putting the ball in play, the Pacers struggled to string hits together against Lynchburg's pitching staff.
The Pacers are back in action for their home opener against Shaw on Wednesday, February 26th with a double header match up starting at 1 PM.
