RALEIGH, N.C. - The William Peace volleyball team earned back to back sweeps over Mary Baldwin in the Hermann Athletic Center on Wednesday night. The Pacers put together a complete team effort in both matches, as every player on the roster saw action throughout the evening.
In the first contest, Peace reached a 3-0 victory behind a .388 team hitting percentage. Aubrey Chesson led the attack with nine kills, while Maegan Brylski collectred 31 assists and added five aces. Sarah Yates and Jordyn Chinigo each tallied six plus, and senior Tameka Adams contributed three kills and three aces. Freshmen Caitlin Bailey and Alyssa Sava each made their presence felt at the net, combining for nine kills and two blocks, while Savannah Hairr added four aces and nine digs to round out the offensive performance.
The Pacers kept the momentum rolling into the second match, again sweeping the Fighting Squirrels in three straight sets. Bailey continued her strong night with a team-high eight kills on .538 hitting, while Yates added seven and Hairr added five. Setter AJ Townsend directed the offense with 13 assists and an ace, while libero Gracie Payne held down the back row with nine digs. Adams was a force at the net with six kills and three blocks, and Alexis Geyer, Jordyn Chinigo, and Katie Arens each contributed valuable points in the win.
With the pair of victories, William Peace improves to 11-12 overall and 4-7 in USA South play. They will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Brevard College for a double header starting at 11 AM.
