Pacers Fall To Southern Virginia 5-4 In 10 Innings

CARY, N.C. – William Peace rallied to tie the score in the eighth inning but fell 5-4 in the 10th inning against Southern Virginia in a USA South matchup at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Monday evening.

The loss ended the season for the Pacers, who were playing for a spot in the USA South Conference Tournament.

The Pacers fell behind 2-0 after Southern Virginia scored in the first and fifth innings. They chipped into the deficit on Nick Tyler's RBI groundout in the sixth inning and tied the game on Aaron Kimbel's RBI single in the eighth inning.

Neither team scored again until the 10th inning. The Knights put up three runs in the top half of the inning for a 5-2 lead. The Pacers came back in the bottom half, cutting the margin to one on Nick Tubolino's RBI fielder's choice and a one-run double by Cameron Barefoot.

The game ended on an outfield throw to home for the final out.

Barefoot went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Pacers, who outhit the Knights 13-12. Tyler had an RBI and scored two runs.
