Pacers Rally Past Methodist 11-5 In Second Game, Split Doubleheader

RALEIGH, N.C. – A six-run fourth inning rally keyed William Peace's 11-5 softball win over Methodist in the second game of a USA South Conference doubleheader at the WPU Softball Complex on Friday.

The Pacers bounced back with the victory after dropping the first game 3-0.

William Peace trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but scored six runs to take a 7-4 lead. Caroline Burdsal, Lydia Hunt and Angelina Jones hit one-run singles, and Adanya Day added an RBI on a fielder's choice. Reagan Stewart smacked a two-run single to cap the rally.

The Pacers scored four runs in the sixth inning for an 11-4 lead. Stewart added a three-run homer after Day collected an RBI.

Stewart went 3-for-4 at the plate with five RBIs for the Pacers. Day totaled two RBIs and Jones, Rachel Mori and Hunt each scored two runs. Hunt also doubled in the win.

Mori recorded an RBI single in the third inning to put the Pacers on the scoreboard. Her hit tied the game at 1-1.

Kimberly Bordeaux allowed one run and four hits in 3.2 innings as a reliever for the pitching win. The Pacers outhit the Monarchs 12-10.

The Pacers gave up three runs in the first inning of the first game, but held the Monarchs scoreless the rest of the way. Unfortunately, the Pacers scored zero runs and had two hits in the game.

The Pacers placed runners on first and second base with two outs in the third inning, but a groundout ended the inning. Logan Ayers hit a double with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but the Monarchs got the final two outs for the win.

The Pacers are back at home against crosstown rival Meredith at the WPU Softball Complex on Wednesday, April 3. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the second game is set for approximately 4 p.m.
