Softball Goes Undefeated In Grand Slam Triangle Classic

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University softball finished 4-0 in the Grand Slam Triangle Classic as they defeated Oberlin 2-1 and Randolph 4-3.

    • Game One: William Peace 2, Oberlin 1

KEY POINTS
Game One
  • Neither team would be able to get on the board until the bottom of the 4th when a single from Anna Suggs would score Logan Ayers for a 1-0 lead.
  • Oberlin would tie it 1-1 at the top of the fifth after an error from the Pacers.
  • A double from Angelina Jones in the bottom of the 6th would bring in Logan Ayers to put the Pacers ahead 2-1, and they would hold Oberlin to that score for the remainder.
Game Two
  • At the top of the first, the Pacers would take a 1-0 lead on a homerun from Adanya Day. The Wildcats would answer in the bottom of the 2nd as they stole home for a 1-1 score.
  • At the top of the 4th, a single from Taryn Shelton would bring in Logan Ayers for a 2-1 lead, but the Wildcats would tie it 2-2 with a single in the bottom of the 6th.
  • The game would be forced to go to extra innings. A double from Lydia Hunt at the top of the 8th would bring in Claire Yancey and Abigail McIntosh for a 4-2 lead. In the bottom, Randolph would add a run on a sac bunt, but the Pacers would stay strong to take a 4-3 win.
PACER TOP PERFORMERS
  • Anna Suggs tallied 6 strikeouts in game two while also adding an RBI in game one.
  • Lydia Hunt tallied 2 RBIs in game two.
FOR THE FOES
  • O. Walch went 1 for 1 with 2 RBI in game two.
