Pacers Fall To Eastern Mennonite At Home

RALEIGH, N.C. – Allye Woodruff scored 12 points for William Peace in a 63-42 non-conference women's basketball loss to Eastern Mennonite at the Hermann Athletic Center on Saturday.

Woodruff, a freshman guard, led the Pacers in scoring for the second straight day. She connected on 4 of 8 three-point shots.

Keslee Hylton and Zia Prim contributed off the bench for the Pacers. Hylton scored eight points of 4 of 5 shooting and added two steals in eight minutes of action.

Prim delivered six points and seven rebounds, which tied Nautica Smiley for team-high honors. Smiley dished out five assists and Ja'Naisja Baker finished with four steals, six rebounds and three assists. Nora Williams chipped in five points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Pacers (3-7 overall) played without standout guard Tanaesha Ellison for the second straight day due to injury. Ellison leads the USA South Conference in scoring and rebounding.

Kayla Surles scored 13 points and Jayla Gray grabbed 13 rebounds for Eastern Mennonite, an ODAC member.

The Pacers shot 25.4 percent from the floor and the Royals shot 35.5 percent. The Royals (5-7 overall) held a decisive edge in rebounding (52-38).

William Peace played its last game before the holiday break. The Pacers resume action at home on Jan. 3, 2024, against Methodist in a USA South Conference tilt. Game time is 2 p.m. at the Hermann Athletic Center.
