BUENA VISTA, VA -- The William Peace women's basketball team fell behind in the second half and never recovered in a 61-39 loss to Southern Virginia in a USA South contest at Knight Arena on Saturday, Nov. 18.
The Pacers sparkled in the second period as they outscored the Knights 19-15 to close within 28-25 at the half. Nautica Smiley scored nine of her team-high 15 points in the period.
Only down eight entering the fourth period, the Pacers appeared prime for a comeback but the Knights stretched their lead to double digits. The final score was the largest margin.
Smiley added five steals, four assists, three rebounds and one block for the Pacers. Tanaesha Ellison totaled eight points and nine rebounds and Allye Woodruff scored eight points.
