GREENSBORO, NC -- William Peace University volleyball split the final day of the regular season, taking down Mary Baldwin 3-0 and falling to Greensboro 3-2. The Pacers will finish as the #2 season and will host the a first round game of the USA South Conference Tournament against NC Wesleyan on Tuesday, November 1st with a time TBD. This also marks a new program record for WPU Volleyball as they recorded the most wins in a single season with 25.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One - MBU
Set One (25-9)
The Pacers would dominate the first set, going on a huge 13-point run with kills from
Landis Limon and
Kelsey Bierbauer and numerous aces from
Hannah Collier to lead 14-1. A 5-point run with kills from Bierbauer and
Georgia Grace Anderson would put them up 20-4, while a few final kills from Limon and Anderson would end the set 25-9.
Set Two (25-11)
Two strong runs at the start of set two with kills from
Kelsey Bierbauer,
Georgia Grace Anderson, and
Tameka Adams would give the Pacers a 10-3 lead. Kills from
Hannah Collier and
Shelby Cooper as well as an ace from
Mackenzie Russell would put the Pacers up 20-7. Final kills from Anderson and Bierbauer would end the set 25-11 and put the Pacers up 2-0 in the match.
Set Three (25-18)
Kills from
Jordan Juanes and
Madeline Simpson would put the Pacers up 5-4 early in the final set. Another kill from Juanes would increase the lead to 10-8. A 6-point run with kills from Adams and a block from Adams and Simpson would give the Pacers a 19-10 lead. Mary Baldwin would battle back to trail 20-7, but kills from
Logan Moore and
Georgia Grace Anderson as well as an ace from
Vivian Camplin would end the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
Game Two - Greensboro
Set One (26-28)
The Pacers would take a 14-9 lead early in the first set with kills from
Landis Limon,
Hannah Collier, and
Kelsey Bierbauer. The Pride would battle back to trail 18-17 before going on a late run to lead 25-24. A kill from
Kelsey Bierbauer would tie it up 26-26, but the Pride would win the set 28-26 to lead 1-0.
Set Two (25-21)
A few kills from
Hannah Collier and
Mackenzie Russell would put the Pacers up 9-4 in the second set. Kills from
Shelby Cooper and a block from
Landis Limon and
Kelsey Bierbauer would put WPU up 16-10. The Pride would battle back to trail just 21-20, but a few final kills from
Hannah Collier and an ace from
Hannah Ward would end the set 25-21 and tie the game 1-1.
Set Three (25-21)
A few kills from
Kelsey Bierbauer,
Hannah Collier, and
Georgia Grace Anderson would give the Pacers a 7-2 advantage early in set three. The Pride would battle to trail 12-11, but an ace from
Vivian Camplin would put the Pacers up 15-12. A 4-point run with kills from
Hannah Collier and
Landis Limon would bring the score to 20-15.
Shelby Cooper would put away the final kill to end the set 25-21 and put the Pacers up 2-0 in the match.
Set Four (17-25)
The fourth set would start out close as it would be tied 6-6 early. An ace from
Hannah Ward would give the Pacers up 12-9. The Pride battled to take a 15-14 lead before going on a run to lead 23-16. They would grab the final points to win 25-17 and tie the game 2-2.
Set Five (13-15)
In the final set, an ace from
Hannah Ward and kills from
Hannah Collier and
Kelsey Bierbauer would put the Pacers up 8-5. The Pride would briefly lead before another kill from Bierbauer would tie it 11-11. A kill from Bierbauer would keep the Pacers in it as they trailed 14-13, but the Pride would pick up the final point to win the set 15-13 and the match 3-2.

FOR THE FOES
- Rachel Christian tallied 9 kills for MBU in game one.
- Payton Shiflet tallied 24 kills for the Pride in game two, while Jaylyn Temleton added 48 assists.
