Volleyball Wins 11th In A Row With Tri-Match Victories Over Averett And NCWC

Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University Volleyball defeated both Averett University and NC Wesleyan in a USA South non-conference Tri-Match. The Pacers would come out buzzing as they won the first 3 sets of the first game to defeat Averett University. In game two, the Pacers would lose the first set of the second game, but then win the next 3 sets to take the victory over NC Wesleyan.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One 
The first set would see both teams staying just within range of each other. The Cougars would soon break away from the Pacers with a 4-point run making the score 10-6. An attack error from Brienna Laskowski would cost the Pacers the first set as it finishes with a score of 25-21. The Pacers would take an early lead in the second set as they got things together and went up 8-2. The Pacers would maintain the lead for the rest of the set as a kill by Landis Limon would seal the set for the Pacers with a final score of 25-20. In the third set, the game would remain evenly matched once again. The lead would go back and forth all the way to the end until a kill by Shelby Cooper would make the score 25-23 for a Pacer set victory. The fourth and final set would be evenly matched as the Pacers would be fighting for a victory and the Cougars would be fighting to stay in the game. A kill by Brienna Laskowski would secure the victory for the Pacers in game one with a final score of 25-20 and an overall set score of 3-1.

Game Two 
The first set of the second game would be evenly matched as neither side would be able to get a large lead until the Pacers would get a 3-point run making the score 6-2. The Pacers would maintain their lead for the entirety of the first set until a Kill by Landis Limon would end the set giving the Pacers a set win with a final score of 25-16.The Bishops would go on multiple 3-4 point runs as they would keep the Pacers from grasping a lead. A kill by Lauren Weaver would give the Bishops a set win with a final score of 25-18. The beginning of the third set would be evenly matched as neither side would get a large lead. After a 5-point run from the Pacers, the Pacers would keep the lead until the end of the set. An Attack error by Callie Cline would give the set win to the Pacers with a final score of 25-18. In the fourth and final set, the game would be evenly matched all the way out. An attack error by Augusta Preston would cost the Bishops the game as the Pacers would walk away with a 3-1 win.

  • Lanie Ouzts ended with 11 kills and 10 digs in the first game.
  • Erin Gray finished with 21 digs.
FOR THE FOES (NC Wesleyan)
  • Lauren Weaver ended with 15 kills in the second game.

The Pacers will host Greensboro College for doubleheader on April 10th in Raleigh, NC. First serve for the first game is scheduled for 12PM and 2pm for the second game.
