Pacers Fall In Tough Loss To Guilford

Box Score The William Peace University men's lacrosse team fell (20-5) to Guilford College on March 4th. 

THE BASICS
  • Final score: William Peace 5, Guilford 20

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pacers would get on the board early as Brewer Warlick scored to give WPU a (1-0) lead. The Quakers would answer shortly after to tie it up (1-1). Finn McGrady's shot would go just high before Guilford's Bailey Benjamin would strike again (2-1). The Quakers would continue to roll as they tallied 4 more goals in quick succession to lead (6-1). Dalton Albright would cut the Quaker lead as the Pacers headed into the second quarter trailing (6-2).
  • The Pacers struggled in the 2nd quarter as the Quaker offense continued to put the pressure on. Nick Shelton would make a few key saves in net, but the Quakers tallied 6 goals in the 2nd to lead (12-2). The Pacers were unable to convert on the extra man opportunity and would head into halftime trailing (12-2).
  • Guilford continued to press the Pacer defense in the third quarter as they scored a few quick goals to lead (15-2). Dalton Albright's shot would go just wide of the net, and Quaker goalie Jack Rogers was strong between the pipes to keep the Pacers at bay. Tre Galligan would chip at the Guilford lead as he scored on the man-up opportunity (15-3), with Nick Falso scoring a few minutes later on another extra man opportunity (15-4). The Quakers would respond with two quick goals to lead (17-4) heading into the final quarter.
  • The final quarter would see Guilford scoring 3 early goals to lead (20-4). Tristan Carter would score man down for the Pacers as they trailed (20-5), but the team was unable to gain any more momentum and would drop the game (20-5).

  • Bailey Benjamin tallied 3 goals and 3 assists.
