Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University women's soccer team fell to Bob Jones University by a score of 2-0. The Pacers now drop to a record of 2-4-1.
The Pacer defense was challenged early in the first half as Bob Jones controlled possession and kept play in the Pacer end. Keeper
Kasey Wilkins was challenged early in net at 6:56 but she was quick on her feet and kept the game tied at zero. WPU would get a chance at 24:50 when
Gabrielle Jones hit the crossbar, but the Pacers were unable to convert. The game would head into halftime tied at zero.
In the second half, the Bruins continued to press the Pacer defense. Keeper
Makenzie Jones entered the game for WPU in the second half and made her first save at 52:43 to keep the game tied at zero. Jones was again sharp as she made consecutive saves at 55:32, 57:50, and 58:26. Brinkley Adams would find a way past Jones as she scored at 61:04 to give Bob Jones a 1-0 lead.
Victoria Finklea would get the Pacers best chance of the half at 85:05 when she pushed her way through the Bruins defense and forced keeper Angelina Martin out of the net to make the save. An unfortunate bounce in front of the Pacer net would give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. The Pacers were ultimately unable to get past the Bruins defense, and Bob Jones would win the game 2-0.Â
