Offensive Surge Propels Women's Lacrosse over Brevard

The Basics:

  • Final Score: William Peace 17 Brevard 6

  • Records: William Peace 9-4 Brevard 6-9

  • Location: Brevard, NC

How it Happened:

  • Brevard would get on the board first as Micaiah Vacchiano found the back of the net four minutes into the game.

  • The Pacers then responded with three straight goals from Dana Florian to bring the score to 3-1.

  • Hunter Denney cut the Pacers lead to one with under twenty minutes left in the first period.

  • Rylie Toomey and Allison Schaper would extend the Pacers lead to 6-2 as Toomey scored first then Schaper would follow with back to back goals.

  • After Hannah Scharf pulled a goal back for the Tornados, the Pacers went on five goal run with two goals a piece from Allison Schaper and Rylie Toomey. Dana Florian capped off the five goal run  to finish the period and extend the Pacers' lead to 11-3 heading into halftime.

  • To start the second period Schaper and Toomey would continue to push the Pacers forward as they would score back to back goals to give the Pacers a ten point lead at 13-3.

  • Micaiah Vacchiano continued to be an offensive threat for Brevard and would add three goals to her account in the second period.

  • Kirsten Dunham scored her first goal of the game as she found the back of the net on a free position shot with under fifteen minutes left.

  • Allison Schaper and Dana Florian finished the scoring for the Pacers as they closed out a 17-6 win over the Tornados.

Pacer Top Performers:

  • Allison Schaper had six goals to go along with four assist.

  • Dana Florian tallied six goals, and 8 draw controls.

  • Rylie Toomey tallied four goals, three assists as well with seven draw controls.

For the Foes:

  • Micaiah Vacchiano had a team high four goals to go along with two draw controls

Stats of the Game:

  • The Pacers took 30 shots to the Brevard's 15.

  • Brevard finished with 21 turnovers to the Pacers' 16.

The Pacers are back in action on April 20 against College. WPU faces off against the Spirits at 7:00 p.m on Saturday.
