Pacers make it Six Wins in a row with Victory Over Meredith College

Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University women's volleyball team defeated crosstown rival Meredith College 3 sets to 1 on Tuesday, October 29th. The Pacers now improve to 20-7 overall and 10-4 in the conference.

In the first set, the Pacers would take a quick 3-0 lead over Meredith. Meredith would then answer by scoring three points in a row to tie the game, starting with a kill by Whitney Bolton. Meredith later took the lead for the first time in the set with a kill by Ally Copenhaver to make the score 8-7. Meredith would then go on to extend their lead by at most 7 points. Meredith received their final point off an attack error by Paige Emore to win the set 25-17.

The second set would be evenly matched throughout. The score did not see a difference of more than two points. The largest lead of the set came at the very end of the set when the Pacers scored four consecutive points to win the set 25-20. The four point scoring run started with a kill by Abby Benton. The run would end with a set-winning kill again from Abby Benton to send the Pacers into the third set with a tied 1-1.

In the third set, the Pacers would quickly break out from Meredith with a kill by Abby Benton for a 7-4 lead. Meredith quickly regained their footing as they then went on to score eight consecutive points to take the lead, starting with a kill by Hailey Long and finishing with a kill by Ally Copenhaver to make the score 12-7. The Pacers would fight back and later regain the lead at 16-15 with a kill by Brienna Laskowski. It would come right down to the wire in set number three as the Pacers held a one point lead at 24-23. Senior Mya Parks would seal the set three victory with a kill as the Pacers took the set by a score of 25-23 and take a 2-1 lead in the match.

In the fourth and final set, both teams wasted no time as they quickly scored 9 points, before the Pacers took a commanding lead of 15-10. Meredith would push back against the Pacer lead, but they did not ever see the lead for the rest of the match. The Pacers then scored 4 consecutive points to finish off the matchup with the final point coming from an attack error to win the set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
