Pacers Defense Comes Up Big In Victory Over Falcons

The Basics:

  • Final Score: William Peace 61 Pfeiffer 50

  • Records: Pfeiffer: 5-4 William Peace 9-6

  • Location: Raleigh, NC

How It Happened:

  • The Pacers were pressured early by Pfeiffer's relentless defense but would score first to start the first quarter.

  • Khadijah Daniels continues to impress shooting the basketball in her first season with the Pacers and drained a long three pointer.

  • The Six nothing run by William Peace would end when Kiara Anderson made a jump shot to put the Falcons on the board.

  • Heading into the second quarter, the Pacers led 18-12 and looked to keep up the offensive production.

  • Deja Umstead subbed in to start the half and drained a big three to get the offense rolling in the second.

  • Sydni Bickford, the Falcons sharp shooting threat hit two three pointers as they trailed by nine points with five minutes left in the half.

  • Mikayla Ray played physical basketball down in the paint for the Pacers ending the half with eight points and five rebounds.

  • Kortni Pinion was the last Falcon to score and had nine points in the half.

  • Mariah Ballen's layup with thirty seconds left in the second quarter would send the Pacers in the locker room leading 32-29.

  • A'Maya McClain would start the scoring in the third quarter cutting the Pacer lead to six.

  • The Pacers went on a 13-2 run in the third quarter and played outstanding defense to stop the Falcon offense.

  • Mikayla Ray continued to work down low and collects another double double this season.

  • Pfeiffer had a late spark in the offense but was not enough to catch the consistent Pacer scoring.

Pacer Top Performers:

  • Khadijah Daniels led the Pacers tonight with 17 points and 7 rebounds

  • Mikayla Ray tallied her eighth double double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds

  • Mariah Ballen and Manazia Merriett both tallied 9 points

  • The Pacers have won four of their last five and continue to impress at the Hermann Athletic Center

For the Foes:

  • Kortni Pinion led the Falcons with 13 points

  • Kiara Anderson and A'Mya McClain both scored 10 points

Stats of the Game:

  • The Pacers out-rebounded the Falcons 40-27

  • William Peace never gave up the lead in this game and the largest lead of the night was 18 points

  • The Pacers shot 45.5% to the Falcons 37.9%

The William Peace University women's basketball team will be back in action Saturday January 12 at 2:00 pm. The Pacers continue their home stretch welcoming USA South Conference rival Greensboro College to the Hermann Athletic Center.
