CARY, NC -- The William Peace University Baseball team took down the Bulldogs of Dean College in a doubleheader sweep on Monday afternoon. The Pacers improve to 8-8 on the season.
GAME 1
Cameron High opened the first game on the mound for the Pacers, throwing three back-to-back strikeouts to wrap up the first inning after a leadoff single put one on. The Pacers would leave two stranded ending the bottom of the first. The Pacers would move through the second and third innings quickly as High's pitching would slow down the offense of the Bulldogs. High would have five strikeouts after just three innings pitched.
The Pacers would have a big sixth inning to bring in three runs beginning with a stand-up triple by Easton Payton to put him in scoring position. Alec Allred would hit a single through the left to score Payton, putting the Pacers on the board, 1-0. Following Allred, Michael Sterne would ground out but Kyle Cranmer would answer with a triple to score Allred. Michael Milian would enter the game to pinch hit and would hit a SAC fly to score Cranmer putting the Pacers up 3-0.
Cameron High continued to succeed on the mound throughout the remaining innings, tallying 10 total strikeouts in the game. The Pacers would hold off the Bulldogs in game one, 3-0.
GAME 2
Austin Skipper would get his second start of the season on the mound for the Pacers in game two. Skipper would close out the first inning with two strikeouts and would tally 7 for the game.
The Pacers would get the bats going early in the bottom of the first beginning with base hits from Gavin Wheeler and Alec Allred. Wheeler would steal third and Allred would steal second. Wheeler would score off an overthrow by the catcher to third while Allred would advance to third off the error. The Pacer offense continued as Christian Dix would hit a single to left field to score Allred. Mikey Anerton would follow suit with an RBI single, scoring Dix. The rally would continue as Parker Fernstrum reached on an error by left field scoring Anerton. The Pacers would conclude the first inning up 4-0.
The Pacers would rally again in the bottom of the third inning with a base hit from Chrsitian Dix followed by an RBI double by Kyle Cranmer to score Dix. Cranmer would advance to third on the throw home. Mikey Anerton would keep the offense going with a drive up the middle to score Cranmer. The Pacers stretched their lead 6-0 heading into the top of the fourth.
The Bulldogs would score one run in the top of the fifth inning but the Pacers would answer bottom of the fifth inning as
Mikey Anerton would single to right field and advance to second on an error.
Parker Fernstrum hit a pop up to the edge of the grass and
Jake Tirado would be hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Aaron George would hit a rope to left field for a 2 RBI single and would advance to second base on the throw. The Pacers would end the inning up 8-1.
The Pacers final runs of the game came in the bottom of the sixth  With bases loaded, Parker Fernstrum reached on a fielders choice and scored Will Dalton. With runners on the corners, Jake Tirado sent one to the gap in right center for a two RBI double. The Pacers would end the game 11-1.
THE BREAKDOWN
- Cameron High finished with 10 strikeouts in game one for the Pacers pitching all 7 innings allowing just two hits.
- Alec Allred went 1-2 at the plate with one RBI in game one.
- Easton Payton and Kyle Cranmer each went 1-3 with triples in game one.

- Christian Dix went 2-2 with 1 SB and 1 RBI in game two.
- Austin Skipper would complete four innings with three strikeouts and only allowing two hits.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pacers have the week to prepare before facing conference opponent Ferrum College for a three-day series beginning on Friday, March 9, at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers are 4-9 overall this season with a conference record of 2-1. In last years series, the Pacers fell to the Panthers, 3-0.
