RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace University softball team prepares to open conference play this weekend as they take on Methodist University on Saturday, March 3 at 1:00 p.m. and N.C. Wesleyan on Sunday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m.
The Pacers enter Saturday's doubleheader coming off of a busy weekend of tournament play at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic on March 23-25. The Pacers went 2-4 over the weekend, defeating Mississippi University for Women and Hood College.
The Monarchs of Methodist College enter the weekend with an overall record of (1-15). Last season, the Pacers swept the Monarchs in Raleigh, 2-0 and 5-4. The Battling Bishops of N.C. Welseyan College are 7-5 overall. The Pacers and Bishops split last year's double header as the Pacers won game one 7-0 and the Bishops came back to win game two 4-3.
The Pacer offense is lead by freshman, Kristina Mojica who is batting .500 at the plate through eight games played. Mojica also boasts a .636 slugging percentage. Jordan Mangum follows Mojica with a .368 batting average and a .421 slugging percentage. On the mound for the Pacers, Kelsey Durham is 1-2 on the season with a 1.40 era.
