Box Score Black Mountain, NC--William Peace Men's Lacrosse traveled to Montreat College for their first ever game in University History. The Cavaliers scored two goals early in the first quarter after winning clean face offs. Sophomore midfielder (#32)
Tanner Brown took it to the cage for the first goal in WPU history with 6:30 left in the 1st quarter. Just two minutes later the Pacers tied the game up 2-2 with a diving shot from (#8)
Austin Abourjilie. The next tally to give the Pacers their fist lead of the game would come from Sophomore Captain (#13)
Anthony Florian with 1:30 left to play in the 1st quarter. Neither team would add another score in the 1st.
In the second quarter Montreat would tie the game at 3 with 10:22 to play in the half. Two minutes later the Cavaliers would again take the lead making the score 4-3 Montreat with 8:32 left in the 2nd quarter. The Pacers answered with another goal from (#8)
Austin Abourjilie. Abourjilie's goal came with a flag on the ground and gave WPU an extra man opportunity. The Cavaliers called a time out to regroup before the man-up for the Pacers with the score tied at 4-4. Both teams traded possession back and forth until the 3 minute mark. Captain (#13)
Anthony Florian went coast to coast to give the Pacers the lead at 5-4 for the second time in the game. The Pacers built on the momentum with a third goal from (#8)
Austin Abourjilie giving the Pacers a 6-2 lead with .52 seconds left in the 1st half. Neither team would score in the remaining seconds and the Paces take a two goal lead into half time.
The Pacers came out strong in the third quarter with (#8)
Austin Abourjilie tallying his fourth goal and widening the Pacers lead 7-4. Less than a minute later the Pacers score again with a goal from Freshman Midfielder (#6)
Kyle Spain to give the Pacers an 8-4 lead. A few minutes later Sophomore midfielder (#32)
Tanner Brown put the ball in the back of the net for his second goal of the day giving the Pacers a 9-4 lead with 12:13 left in the 3rd quarter. Captain (#13)
Anthony Florian put up his third goal of the afternoon bringing the Pacer lead to 10-4. The Cavaliers broke their scoring drought with 6:30 left to play in the 3rd with a score of 10-5. The Pacers countered with a goal from Freshman attackmen (#31)
Nick Falso with a score of 11-5. Montreat refuses to back down and tallied with just under five minutes in the third quarter bringing the score to 11-6. The next score would come from #13)
Anthony Florian on a man-up, his fourth goal of the game bringing the score to 12-6. Minutes later, Freshman Defensive Midfielder (#5)
Denzel Mcknight forced a turnover, sprinted the ball up field on a fast break finding (#22)
Michael Meley on the crease who finished to give the pacers a 13-6 lead late in the 3rd quarter. The Cavaliers refused to back down and scored with just 3 seconds left in the third quarter to cut the Pacers lead to 13-7 going into the final quarter.
After the break the Cavaliers came out strong. They would strike first making the score 13-7 early in the fourth quarter. Montreat would score the next four goals to bring cut the Pacers lead to two with a score of 13-11. The Pacers called a time out to regroup. Montreat came out of the T.O. strong and scored to pull within one with 3:30 left in the game 13-12 Pacers. Montreat would go on to tie the game up at 13 with 1:38 in the game. At the end of regulation the score would be tied 13-13.
An unfortunate penalty would put the Pacers man down and award the Cavaliers the ball for the start of overtime play. The Cavaliers would convert with a score on their man up opportunity 35 seconds into overtime to take the win with a final score of 14-13 Montreat.

Nick Shelton had a strong debut with 12 saves keeping the Pacers in the game.
