Box Score MONTGOMERY, AL -- The WPU men's soccer team finished their weekend of conference travel with a tie to the Panthers of LaGrange College in a 0-0 draw. The Pacers are now (4-2-1) on the season and (1-0-1) in conference.
The first period ended scoreless, with the Pacers taking six shots in comparison to the Panthers two. Two of those six shots came from sophomore,
Junior Ayala. The game got off to a physical start with several fouls called on both sides.
The second half proved to be in similar form to the first half, however the Panthers controlled majority of the offense, with five shot attempts in comparison to the Pacers one. The aggressive play ended regulation with 14 fouls charged to WPU, and seven called against the Panthers.
The Pacers would move on to play two overtimes that would finish without a goal from either team.
Christian Ortiz came up with two crucial saves in the extra minutes, while securing three saves in regulation.
Alex Velasquez would tally the only shot on goal in the extra minutes.
WPU men's soccer will continue with a break in conference play, as they take on Guilford College. The game will be played at 5:00 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C on Wednesday, September 20. The Quakers are (0-7) on their season overall.
