Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, NC--The William Peace softball team traveled to Greensboro for a conference doubleheader, where the Pacers were bested in the first game 0-5 and then 9-10 in a tough loss in extra innings.
Game 1
Kelsey Durham got the start for the Pacers, Durham pitched six innings, allowing five runs, only two of which were earned. While striking out four and one walk. The Pride's pitching staff was able to hold the Pacer's bats to only six hits and no runs. Heather McLean and Kelsey Durham both went (2-3) in the game but the Pacers couldn't get any run production going. The Pride was able to get three runs in the third and added two more in the sixth to give them the win.
Game two
The Pacers came out hot in the top of the first and wet up (1-0) on a Lindsey Wiggins RBI single. The Pride would answer right with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first making it (1-2)in favor of the Pride. The Pacers would tie things up at two in the third off Madison Tucker RBI single to center. The two teams would continue to go back and forth as Greensboro College would go back on top as they would tack on three in the third and one in the fourth. The Pacers again would answer right back with an offensive explosion Liliana Berber started things off with an RBI single to center with two on base,scoring one. Jordan Criswell and Lindsey Wiggins would an RBI single a piece to bring the Pacers within one. The USA South homerun leader Heather McLean would add to her total with three RBI bomb to left field putting the Pacers up (8-6). The Pride would again answer right back with a run in the sixth then another in the bottom of seventh to send the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth Jordan Mangum grounded out to second with two on base but it wa enough to bring in Lindsey Wiggins and give the Pacers the lead once again heading into the bottom of the inning. The Pride with a chance for a walk off win, would have the last say tieing the game off an error then would win in walk off fashion with a single to left field scoring the winning run.
The Pacers will be back in action tomorrow against the Avenging Angels of Meredith College in a makeup conference doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m.
