GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The William Peace University softball team split their double header on Wednesday against Guilford College. The Pacers took found success in the first game topping Guilford 5-3. In the second game Guilford managed to keep the Pacers down early ending the game 8-0.
GAME 1
Guilford stepped into game one swinging early and often, scoring two of the games first runs by the third inning. Down by two and heading into the top of the fourth, Heather McLean put the Pacers ahead with a three-run home run. Lindsey Wiggins gave the Pacers a more comfortable lead in the sixth with a home run of her own, driving in Jordan Mangum.
Kelsey Durham picked up her third win of the year in four starts.
GAME 2
Unable to bring together the bats like they did in game one, the Pacers fell down early to Guilford in game two. The Quakers had six runs on the board by the end of the third and closed out the game by tacking on one run in the fourth and fifth innings.
UP NEXT
After splitting the series in Greensboro the Pacers will host the 2017 Grand Slam USA Classic in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex starting on Friday.
