Raleigh, NC -- The WPU men's basketball team traveled out of state to Lexington, Virginia on December 6 for a non-conference match-up against Washington and Lee. The ODAC opponent proved to be a demanding game that resulted in a 100-73 loss for the Pacers.
The Generals came out solid, dominating the first half of the game. The Pacers fought to gain the lead, but struggled to get through Washington and Lee's tough defense. Camden Ferguson secured 11 points for William Peace, and
Tyson Sellers came out dominating defensively with 6 rebounds in the first half of the game. The Pacers would head into half-time trailing 36-47.
In the first six minutes of the second half, the Pacers would cut the lead to nine, with a layup by Sellers. Unfortunately, the attack from the Generals would draw several fouls against the Pacers and would put Washington and Lee on the line for a total of 33 free-throw attempts throughout the game.
Samuel Arnold stepped up for the Pacers defensively, falling just behind Sellers with seven rebounds. Sellers finished off the game with a eight rebounds, and 15 points. Ferguson contributed 13 points on the night.
The men's basketball team will be back in action on December 16 to take on conference opponent, Ferrum College at home at 2:00 p.m. The Panthers are currently on a three-game losing streak and will face the Cougars of Averett University before taking on the Pacers.
