CARY, N.C. -- The WPU men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Piedmont College in a USA South conference match-up on Saturday, October 7th. The Pacers are now (6-6-1) on the season and (2-4-1) in the conference. Piedmont stands in second place of the west division of the USA South conference while the Pacers drop to sixth place of the east division.
The Lions would score first on a goal from Colin Owen at the 41 minute mark. Piedmont's Chase Kane would score twice, first at the 56 minute mark, and then again at the 86th minute. WPU senior,
Seth Cranford, would score the solo goal for the Pacers on a penalty kick in the 64th minute, giving WPU their only goal of the game. This marked Cranford's fourth goal of the season.
Christian Ortiz had four saves in net for the Pacers.
The Pacers will play again tomorrow against Brevard College at 11:30 a.m. in Cary, NC at WakeMed Soccer Park. Brevard is currently 2-5 on the season. The Tornados are not ranked in conference as this is their first year as a member of the USA South conference.
