MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- The William Peace University men's basketball team fell, 81-77, to Maryville (Tenn.) on Friday night. William Peace dropped to 10-7 on the season and 3-3 in the USA South.
The game featured two USA South teams with similar team stats and positioning and it played out like two evenly matched teams.
The Pacers jumped out to an early lead in the first half and went up by 13 with 6:46 left in the first half. The Scots fought back and closed the half on a 17-6 run to cut the Pacers' lead to two before heading into the locker room.
The Pacers held on to the lead for several minutes in the second half before the Scots eventually took the advantage. The Pacers took the lead back just once the remainder of the game, but the team was always within five points.
Camden Ferguson hit a big 3-pointer to tie the game at 70, but the Scots pushed the lead back to four before
Chris Thomas nailed a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to one. The Pacers had a few chances in the final minute to take the lead, but the shots weren't falling and the Pacers fell, 81-77.
EFFICIENCY
Dakota King was the Pacers most efficient player scoring 13 points on 5 of 10 shooting and grabbing nine rebounds in only 15 minutes.
