RALEIGH -- The William Peace University women's basketball team recorded its eleventh win of the season with a 77-63 victory over Methodist.
Nadine Ealey scored a career-high 22 points to go with nine rebounds and six assists to lead the Pacers over the Monarchs.
The Pacers and Monarchs traded shots for the majority of the first quarter with a final frame score of 21-18 in favor of the Pacers. The Pacers were controlling the game in the second quarter and didn't allow the Monarchs to get as many offensive rebounds and second chance points, which led to the Pacers extending their lead to 44-36 heading into half.
William Peace continued to slowly outgun the Monarchs in the second half and led by as many as 18 before settling down and outlasting the Monarchs, 77-63.
Makayla Ray earned another double-double in her productive freshman campaign with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Susannah Sykes scored 13 while
Tyler Mercer added eight points and a career-high 12 assists.
THE BIG PICTURE
The Pacers are off to one of the best starts in school history and it comes from a team that is nearly all underclassmen. The Pacers have learned to play together and off each other to be the most efficient team they can be. The team isn't reliant on a single player and each member plays her role well. The team has really gelled well and is second in the East of the USA South at 4-1.
