CARY, NC – The William Peace University men's soccer team sent their senior class out with a bang Thursday night against Mid-Atlantic Christian, dominating the Mustangs in a record-breaking, 20-1 victory.
"We had fun out there tonight. We were able to try some different things, and the seniors had a great night," said head coach
Caleb Husmann. "It will be sad to lose them but I've certainly enjoyed seeing how they've developed the last couple of years. It's been an honor and a privilege getting to coach them."
Eight of the team's 10 seniors scored.
Dylan Shields didn't find the back of the net but assisted the Pacers' first three goals which came from
Tanielu Riley,
Micheal Mckeel, and
Sean O'Driscoll.
Mckeel finished the game with four goals.
Brandon Page added a goal and an assist, while
Enrique Ochoa,
Oswaldo Peralta,
Bryan Martinez and
Phillip Peaden each scored one goal apiece.
14 players in all ended up scoring for WPU (6-8-2).
Isaac Kruger logged a hat trick with three goals.
Seth Cranford scored a goal and helped on three others.
Cody Gundlach also chipped in with his first career goal and assist.
Joshua Helms scored the lone goal for Mid-Atlantic Christian (0-6).
The WPU men's soccer team closes out the regular season this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on the road against Averett. While they don't control their own destiny, a win keeps the Pacers' conference tournament hopes alive.
