Tim Byram

RALEIGH, N.C. - Peace has announced the hiring of Tim Byram as the inaugural head coach of its men's volleyball program, which will begin competition in the 2026-27 academic year.

Byram joins the Pacers after a distinguished 27-year coaching career highlighted by historic success at Endicott College. He owns a career head coaching record of 535-342 (.610), including a remarkable tenure with the Endicott women's volleyball program where he posted 482 wins, 10 NCAA Division III appearances, and nine conference championships.

From 2001-2012, Byram also guided Endicott men's volleyball program, compiling a 214-164 record (.566) and leading the Gulls to consistent success. His combined career at Endicott across both programs, ranks him as the all-time winningest coach in school history with 696 career victories.

Earlier in his career, Byram served as the interim head coach at Bates College, where he went 33-6 (.846) and captured an ECAC Championship, and at the University of Maine-Farmington, where he was named MAC and NAIA Regional Coach of the Year after a 20-12 season.

"We are thrilled to have Tim join us. Building a program from the ground up is not easy - but we feel fortunate to hire someone with Tim's many accomplishments across a storied career." Athletic Director Claude Shields said. "We know that he will do a phenomenal job from day one. We can't wait to see what is in store for our men's volleyball program with Coach Byram at the helm!"

"I'd like to thank Claude Shields and Danielle O'Leary from athletics, along with Frank Rizzo for the opportunity to serve as the inaugural men's volleyball coach at Peace," said Byram. "The passion for athletics and the University's vision for the future is contagious, and I'm excited to get to campus, connect with the community, and begin building the program. I'd also like to thank past coaches, staff, and families who have been a part of so many great stories and lessons along the way, as being part of something bigger than ourselves isn't an opportunity everyone gets."

With the addition of men's volleyball, William Peace University continues to expand opportunities for student-athletes while competing in one of the fastest-growing NCAA Division III sports.
