After spending two seasons as an assistant coach for the Pacers, Owen was named Head Baseball Coach in 2017, as former Head Coach Chris Duty took on the new role of Executive Director or Baseball.  Owen owns seven years of coaching experience including six seasons at the collegiate level.  Prior to joining the WPU coaching staff in the spring of 2016, Owen served as the Volunteer Assistant at UNC Greensboro. He also served as an assistant coach and head strength and conditioning coach at Brevard College in Brevard, N.C.
 
"Curtis brings great work ethic and experience to WPU Baseball,” said 4th year head coach Chris Duty. “Coaching with Brevard College and UNCG, as well as instructing with USA Baseball, has provided him with great background in the game. His strength and conditioning background will benefit our players’ performance greatly.”
 
Prior to his stint at Brevard, Owen served as the Facility Supervisor and Lead Baseball Instructor for the Town of Cary, N.C. where he supervised athletic facilities with accordance to town policy during weeknight games and weekend tournaments. He also enforced the rules of the park, and instructed baseball camps for young athletes to give them proper instruction to grow and improve their baseball skills.
 
In 2010, Owen was the assistant coach for the 16U USA National Team Identification Series and was a Trials Coach for the USA Women’s National Team. He was the assistant baseball coach at Daniels Middle School in 2009 and spent time as the Head Baseball Coach at Northern Granville Middle School from 2002-03, where he helped evaluate players to properly form a team, devised workout and practice plans while also providing field maintenance and organizational duties. Following his year at Northern Granville, Owen went on to play two seasons at Pitt Community College where he lined up in centerfield for the Bulldogs (2003-05).
 
In addition to his baseball work, Owen served as a Relay for Life Team member, a Multiple Sclerosis Walk volunteer as well as a PEPI Facilitator.
