ROANOKE, Va. - The William Peace women's soccer team opened its two-game road stretch with a 2-0 win over Hollins University Monday evening, improving to 4-2-1 on the season.
Savanna Berckmiller put the Pacers on the board in the 22nd minute, scoring her third goal of the season to give Peace a 1-0 lead. The Pacers took that advantage into halftime after Courtney Dugan made three saves in the opening 45 minutes.
Peace created 11 shots in the second half and continued to hold off Hollins on the other end. Dugan made five more saves after the break, including three over the final 11 minutes.
Josie Tucker added some insurance in the 87th minute, finding the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season to give the Pacers a 2-0 advantage.
Dugan finished with eight saves to record her second shutout of the season. Peace finished with a 17-13 advantage in shots, putting nine on goal, and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Pacers continue their road stretch Wednesday, Sept. 16, traveling to Sweet Briar College for a 6 p.m. match up.
