RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace women's volleyball split its final two matches of the Raleigh Invitational on Saturday afternoon, falling 0-3 to Sewanee before defeating Guilford 3-1.
The Pacers opened the day with a 0-3 (16-25, 21-25, 17-25) loss to Sewanee. Jordyn Chinigo led Peace with eight kills, while Aaliyah Anderson added seven and Aubrey Chesson finished with five kills and eight digs. Layla Farmer recorded 14 assists and seven digs, and Gracie Payne had a team-high nine digs.
Peace finished the invitational with a 3-1 (18-25, 25-10, 25-10, 25-16) win over Guilford. After dropping the first set, the Pacers hit .619 in the second and .481 in the third. Peace finished the match with 50 kills, nine service aces and 71 digs.
Chesson finished with a team-high 13 kills while hitting .333, followed by Chinigo with 10 kills and four block assists. Anderson added nine kills, while Farmer recorded 24 assists, 15 digs and two aces. Payne also finished with 15 digs, while Katie Arens recorded three aces and Savannah Hairr added two, reaching 100 service aces for her career.
The Pacers head back on the road on Sept. 17, where they will open conference play against Pfeiffer at 6 p.m.
