Softball Takes One on Final Day of Triangle Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace softball split its games Sunday to close out the Grand Slam Triangle Softball Classic, finishing the weekend with a 3-1 record. The Pacers now sit at 3-3 on the season.

In the first game of the day, Peace battled ninth ranked Christopher Newport in a tightly contested match up but fell just short 3-2. The Pacers recorded six hits in the game, with Taylor Byrd driving in a run and Alli Bordwine adding an RBI. Reagan Stewart and Marissa Fuller each collected doubles.

Peace bounced back in the afternoon game with a strong offensive performance, defeating Eastern Mennonite 7-2. After falling behind early, the Pacers answered immediately and took control with a three run fourth inning. Kinley Jordan highlighted the rally with a triple and finished with two hits and an RBI, while Gracee Greer added two hits and drove in a run. Reagan Stewart also contributed at the plate with two hits and two RBI.

Stewart earned the win in the circle, pitching four innings before Savannah Paul closed out the final three innings to secure the victory. The Pacers finished the game with 12 hits and did not commit an error.

William Peace concludes the Triangle Classic with a 3-1 record across the weekend and now turns its attention to The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. The Pacers will open the trip with two games Tuesday, followed by two games Thursday and two more on Friday.
